What is pop?
For it’s artists who thrive on having hit singles that don’t fit neatly into any other genre and who usually appeal to a young audience. Of course, as we age, we usually still like the pop of our own generation.
I have a poll to find the best pop live albums.
Loading ...Unplugged And Seated is a live album by Rod Stewart recorded in February 1993 for MTV.
The album is a throwback in style to Rod Stewart’s best days when he was a talented songwriter and a terrific interpreter of other people’s songs. This is the album that popularised the Van Morrison tune, Have I Told You Lately.

Natural Wonder is a live album by Stevie Wonder from concerts on the 1995 “Conversation Peace” tour.
This concert in Japan, where Steve Wonder performed with the Tokyo Philharmonic, was also televised but doesn’t appear to be available as a DVD.

One Night Only The Greatest Hits is a live album by classic rock star Elton John. It was recorded at two concerts at the Madison Square Garden in New York in October 2000.
I don’t why but I’m irritated by the title One Night Only when there were two nights.
The album also brought out various famous guest stars – Kiki Dee, Ronan Keating, Bryan Adams, Anastacia and Mary J. Blige.
There’s obviously no problem with Kiki Dee singing on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. We’d rather have her than anyone else. But I’m not sure that the Elton John purists are going to want the others.

Abba Live is a live compilation album by Swedish pop group Abba. Most of the tracks come from the 1979 performances at Wembley Arena in London.
In 2014 Abba Live At Wembley was released.
It also includes songs from the 1977 tour of Australia and four tracks from 1981 recorded for the Dick Clavett TV show.

Hot August Night is a live double album by Neil Diamond, recorded at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in August 1972.
It has been released in a number of different versions with extra songs being added each time.
Alive In Japan is a live album by art rock / pop rock band 10cc.
The live albums issued under the 10cc brand name are very confusing and it appears that Ali9ve in Japan is an extended version of 10cc Live.
This is another album by the Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart version of the band so the emphasis is on melodic pop but without the earlier inventiveness that the original foursome created..
10cc Live is a live album by 10cc. Like Live And Let Live, this is the 10cc with Godley & Creme.
This appears to be a cut-down, single disc version of 10cc Alive In Japan.
Live At Wembley is a souvenir of the last tour Queen did with Freddie Mercury in 1986 to promote the A Kind Of Magic album.
It’s sad to think that the group who had stolen the show at the Live Aid concert, the year before weren’t to tour again for nineteen years (2005) when they had Paul Rogers as the lead vocalist.
Their last concert was at Knebworth on 9th August 1986 and Mercury was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS the following year and died 24th November 1991.
