Little Feat American Cutie 1973

American Cutie is a live album by Little Feat on their tour to promote their third studio album, Dixie Chicken.

It was recorded at Ebbets Field, Denver, Colerado on July 19th, 1973.
but not released until 2012.

This is a single disc version of Late Night Truck Stop released in 2001. This is a radio broadcast recording that I think squeezes through the copyright laws.

Best Little Feat Live Albums

I think most people think of the glory years of Little Feat as the early period with their main songwriter Lowell George who died on June 29, 1979.

The band reformed in 1987 with Craig Fuller who was then replaced by Shaun Murphy in 1993. Bill Payne (vocals and keyboards) has been an ever-present member and Paul Barrere (vocals and guitar) and Kenny Gradney (bass) have been members since 1972.

The Studio Albums of Little Feat

The Lowell George studio albums established their reputation as a hard to categorise but exciting band. They combined rock with the blues, country and funk to create a unique sound. Continue reading Best Little Feat Live Albums

Lynyrd Skynyrd Southern By The Grace Of God 1987

It is the live album Southern By The Grace Of God from concerts in 1987 that proved that the terrible aeroplane crash ten years before hadn’t killed Lynyrd Skynyrd as well as lead singer and songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backing singer Cassie Gaines.

Best Live Lynyrd Skynyrd Albums

Perhaps the answer is obvious? One More From The Road from 1976 is excellent but perhaps, the answer will surprise you.

The Marshall Tucker Band Way Out West! Live From San Francisco 1973

Way Out West was previously broadcast on the radio and captures The Marshall Tucker Band when they were lean and hungry. There’s a frantic energy shown here that is missing from later live recordings like Stompin’ Room Only.

Creedeence Clearwater Revival The Concert 1970

The Concert is the second live album released by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It is a recording of a single concert at the Oakland Coliseum in California on January 31, 1970.

Unlike the previously released but later recorded Live In Europe, The Concert features the four piece group.

Creedence Clearwater Revival Live In Europe 1971

Creedence Clearwater Revival Live In Europe is the first live album released by CCR in 1973. It was recorded on tour in Europe in September 1971.

It is alleged that this isn’t a live album at all but a rehearsal tape with the sounds of an audience dubbed on later. I can well believe it.

This is also Creedence Clearwater Revival performing as a trio as rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty was no longer with the group and this change also affected their sound.

The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East 1971

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band is one of the most famous live albums ever released. It was recorded in March 1971 during concerts at the Fillmore in New York.

There is also an extended version called The Fillmore Concerts with the live songs from Eat A Peach or the At Fillmore East Deluxe Edition which has another song added.

Tragedy wasn’t very far away from The Allman Brothers Band. Guitarist Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident on October 29, 1971 in Macon, Georgia. On November 11, 1972, Bass player Berry Oakley died in another motorcycle accident only three blocks from where Duane Allman had his accident.

Live At Fillmore East has historical significance and whilst The Allman Brothers Band continued to record and tour, things could never be the same.
