Wikipedia defines blues rock as follows:
“Blues rock is a musical genre combining bluesy improvisations, commonly over the twelve-bar blues, with rock styles. The core of the blues rock sound is usually created by the electric guitar, piano, bass guitar and drum kit, with the electric guitar often amplified…The style began to develop in the mid-1960s in Britain and the United States. British bands, such as John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds and the Animals and American bands such as the Butterfield Blues Band and the Siegel–Schwall Band, experimented with music from older African-American bluesmen…”
Out of John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers came Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor while the Yardbirds helped to develop Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck.

Songlines Live is a live concert DVD by the Derek Trucks Band.
It was recorded at the Park West in Chicago on January 28, 2006.
It’s unusual for me to feature a DVD which doesn’t have an accompanying CD or digital download to create an audio only version but I tend to make exceptions for Trucks.
The band recorded a studio album called Songlines but this is much more than that album played live.
Peakin’ at the Beacon is a live album by The Allman Brothers Band.
It was recorded at the Beacon Theatre in New York City in their season at the venue from March 9th to 25th 2000.

It was recorded in 2008 & 9 and released in 2009.
I don’t normally feature live EPs on this blog but there are two reasons for this appearing:
Roadsongs is a live album by southern rock group The Derek Trucks Band.
It was recorded at West Park in Chicago on the 8th and 9th April 2009.
Holy Haunted House is a live album by Gov’t Mule.
It was recorded at The O’Shaughnessy Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 31, 2007.
Strangely it includes a live version of the entire Led Zeppelin album Houses of the Holy. I say strangely because this is probably Zeppelin’s best covered album on their own live albums The Song Remains The Same and How The West Was Won. It’s brave to be ready to be compared against 1972 and 1973 Led Zeppelin.
It is not that unusual for Gov’t Mule to pay tribute to a group like this, particularly at their Halloween concerts. Another live album, The Dark Side Of The Mule features plenty of Pink Floyd songs and they’ve also played sets of songs by The Rolling Stones and The Who.
Live At Bush Hall is a live album by blues guitarist Gary Moore.
It was recorded at Bush Hall in London on 17th May 2007. It was originally broadcast on Planet Rock radio.
Dark Side Of The Mule is a live album by blues rock group Gov’t Mule.
It was recorded in concert in Boston in 2008 when Gov’t Mule played about three hours worth of Pink Floyd songs, which of course were given the Gov’t Mule treatment.
