Aerosmith are an interesting American hard rock group in that they had two distinct peaks of success.
In the 1970s with the studio albums Toys In the Attic and Rocks and singles Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s with studio albums Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get a Grip.
Both of these provide peaks that have the potential to create really good live albums.

Aerosmith Live Albums
If you’re looking for a live album, your choice should be guided by your thoughts on these two periods of excellence and how well the live albums cover them. There isn’t an obvious, “must-have” choice in my opinion.
Care needs to be taken with the “legal” release of unofficial live concert recordings that were broadcast on the radio because the Woodstock performance in particular appears many times.

It was recorded at the Music Hall in Boston in 1978 and broadcast on Boston’s local FM station WBCN.

Rockin’ The Joint is a live album by Aerosmith. It was recorded at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas in January 2002.
Live Classics Live, Aerosmith’s Classics Live II is a compilation of live recordings from the late seventies and the early to mid eighties. Most were recorded in December 1984.
Classics Live is a compilation of songs recorded in the late seventies and early eighties by Aerosmith.

Live Bootleg is a live album by Aerosmith recorded from concerts in 1977 and ’78 with two songs from a radio broadcast in 1973.
