The Status Quo Live boxset collects together three live concert recordings by Status Quo:

  • The 1976 Glasgow concert that features in the Status Quo Live double album.
  • The 1976 Live In Japan aka Tokyo Quo album from the Sunplaza Hall which was originally only released in Japan.
  • Live In Sydney 1974 recorded at Hordern Pavilion

Rod Stewart Live 1976 – 1998 Tonight’s The Night

Live 1976 – 1998 Tonight’s The Night is a compilation live album by Rod Stewart that extends over 4 CDs.

The first disc is all from 1976, the second moves from 1976 to 1981, the third from 1984 to 1989 and the final disc from 1991 to 1998.

This then captures his career as he turned from a rocker with the Faces to a massively successful pop star.

The critical view is that he had “it” in the early 1970s with albums like Every Picture Tells A Story but he was losing it by the time Sailing and Atlantic Crossing appeared in 1975 and it was gone completely by the time that he turned to disco with Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.

That view probably needs to be refined. He continued to produce high quality singles with the odd exception, even if he’d lost that special creativity that he had in his younger days.

Lone Star BBC Live In Concert

BBC Live In Concert is a live album by the heavy progressive Welsh rock group Lone Star and pulls together short sets from 1976 and 1977.

Between these two concerts, Lone Star changed their lead singer from Kenny Driscoll to John Sloman. After Lone Star broke up, Sloman went on to sing with Uriah Heep.

I saw them at the Reading festival in August 1977, just after their second album Firing On All Six was released.
