Led Zeppelin – The Thoughts of Pete Pardo

I’m bringing in some excellent videos from Pete Pardo, from the Sea of Tranquility website about Led Zeppelin.

Sadly we don’t have many live albums from Led Zeppelin, as we’re limited to The Song Remains The Same from the 1970s, the Live At The BBC album and How The West Was Won. We also had their one night only reunion album, Celebration Day.

I definitely feel there is a market for albums from 1975 and 1978.

However their studio albums form the basis of what’s in extended form on their live albums and it’s worth understanding/knowing more about these famous albums. My favourite is Physical Graffiti. Continue reading Led Zeppelin – The Thoughts of Pete Pardo

Black Sabbath – The Thoughts of Pete Pardo

Pete Pardo (from the Sea of Tranquility website) loves Black Sabbath. They are one of his favourite bands.

I’m not convinced the Ozzy Osbourne period produced a classic live album but the Ronnie James Dio era in the early 1980s gave the world Live Evil.

Here are Pete’s videos on Black Sabbath: Continue reading Black Sabbath – The Thoughts of Pete Pardo

Whitesnake The Purple Tour

I haven’t produced a page for the live album and DVD, The Purple Tour by Whitesnake where David Coverdale revisits Deep Purple marks 3 and 4 along with some of the best known Whitesnake songs.

It’s a good one.

However Pete Pardo of the Sea of Tranquility website has produced a review video of the album and here it is.

What Are The Best Live Albums?

Whitesnake are included in my poll to find the best live album by the members of Deep Purple (marks 2 to 4).

Like Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake crossover between the blues rock and hard rock genres so their albums are included in both.

Because there are so many great hard rock and heavy metal live albums I have split the poll into two and you may find some of your favourites in the second division. Albums will be promoted when they get enough votes.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Uriah Heep – What Pete Pardo Thinks

I found some excellent videos on YouTube by a guy called Pete Pardo from a website called the Sea of Tranquility. On this page are videos of him talking about Uriah Heep.

Heep were never the most fashionable of band. In fact, the critics hated them and I never understood why. Musically varied, good tunes and David Byron was a fantastic singer.

But I liked them. I saw them at the Reading Festival, possibly in 1978. That’s after the classic David Byron era but there were a fine band and made me forget about the drizzle and the mud.

Probably their best known live album is from 1973, Uriah Heep Live, recorded in Birmingham.

Here is Pete.
