At The BBC 1974-1978 is a 3 CD and 1 DVD live album by Be Bop Deluxe.
It is made up of live in the studio sessions for John Peel, three In Concert recordings including the 2nd October 1976 concert from the Modern Music tour that I liked so much and videos from the Old Grey Whistle Test and Sight And Sound In Concert.
Much of this has been released before on Radioland / Tremulous Antennae including the 1978 Drastic Plastic concert and Tramcar To The Future. However this release does involve some previously unreleased songs.
Frustratingly it also has some omissions from what’s been released before so it’s still not the complete BBC recordings.

What is the best live album by guitar hero Bill Nelson and Be Bop Deluxe?
Be Bop Deluxe should have been huge and their career was gathering pace nicely in 1975 and 1976.
They recorded some very good (but not great) studio albums – Axe Victim, Futurama, Sunburst Finish and Modern Music. Continue reading What is The Best Be Bop Deluxe Live Album?
Live In Concert At Metropolis Studio is a live recording of a concert in March 2011 by Bill Nelson and the Gentlemen Rocketeers in London.
It comes as a 2 CD plus DVD set or you can buy it as an mp3 download without the video.
If you’re not familiar with Bill Nelson, he was the main man – singer, lead guitarist and songwriter – in art rock group Be Bop Deluxe.
Immediately he broke up the group, he recorded another excellent album, Sound On Sound as Bill Nelson’s Red Noise. Then he abandoned his guitar in favour of keyboards and released many albums of electronic and ambient music.
His Wikipedia entry shows how difficult it is to keep up with the music that Bill Nelson has been releasing.
he’s come back into the spotlight with a cracker.

BBC In Concert 2nd October 1976 is a live concert broadcast by Be Bop Deluxe at the Hammersmith Odeon, London from the Modern Music tour.
It is one of a series of BBC in concert recordings that are available on Amazon.
Unfortunately they seem to be tucked away because it doesn’t appear on the Be Bop Deluxe page.
Their popular Live In The Air Age album was recorded on this tour but it didn’t feature any songs from Modern Music. This one does.
Two Be Bop Deluxe In Concert recordings have also appeared on another live album – Tremulous Antenna – but this is a new one or at least it has some different songs. There is also a Be Bop Deluxe In Concert recording from 15th January 1976 which I think is the basis for Tremulous Antenna but it seems to have been cut down.

Tremulous Antenna and Radioland: BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert are basically the same album which brings together two radio broadcasts by Be Bop Deluxe from 1976 and 1978.

Live In The Air Age is the first live album by seventies art rock band Be Bop Deluxe led by the great guitarist Bill Nelson. It was released in 1977.
Some say that Be Bop Deluxe are progressive rock. I don’t agree and include them in my art rock category along with David Bowie, Roxy Music and King Crimson.
Be Bop Deluxe are one of my favourite groups that captured my imagination as a 15 year old that no one else at school knew about. That changed a little bit when Ships In The Night was a minor hit.
Although this was recorded on the Modern Music tour, there aren’t any songs played from that album. It’s a shame. I saw them and it was a very good gig.
