Peter Frampton Live Albums
Peter Frampton recorded one of the most successful live albums ever when he released Frampton Comes Alive.
It towers over his studio albums – only the immediate follow up I’m In You had anything like the success going Platinum in the USA but Frampton Comes Alive did eight times as well.
I have to admit that I’m mystified by the success of Frampton Comes Alive and why it got so many people excited in 1976 and why it continues to be considered as one of the best live albums ever.
Before he went solo, Frampton had success as a member of Humble Pie.

Frampton Coms Alive II is a live album by Peter Frampton.
It is the follow-up to the incredibly successful Frampton Comes Alive from 1975.
According to Amazon.com this was recorded at the Fillmore West in San Francisco on June 15th and June 16th,1995 while Wikipedia indicates the recordings came from August 1992 through to June 16, 1995.
Since the album was reissued with four extra songs, it might be that these hits didn’t come from the Fillmore concerts.
Frampton Comes Alive, a live album by Peter Frampton recorded in 1975 and released the following year to become the best selling album of 1976.
I have to confess to being mystified by its success.
I didn’t get it when some of the other kids at school were raving about it in 1976 and I still didn’t get it when I finally bought it a couple of years ago when I realised I was going to base my album collection on live recordings.
It’s one of those albums that so many people like that makes me think I must be wrong.
