What Are The Best Beatles Live Albums As A Group Or As Solo Artists?

Sadly The Beatles stopped touring in 1965 because otherwise, I think they’d have had a chance of recording the best live album by anyone at any time.

Provided of course that the screaming audience could be toned down a bit or that The Beatles would have loaded themselves up with enough Marshall amplifiers to provide a better balance.

We don’t have that so the challenge instead is to find the best live album recorded by The Beatles as a group or as solo artists since John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr have all released solo live albums.

Personally I think both Wings Over America and Trippin’ The Live Fantastic (Highlight) are essential recordings. The first because it showed that Paul McCartney was a valid rock star on his own in the mid 1970s with plenty to offer from his days after The Beatles broke up. The second because it has excellent live versions of songs written by McCartney while he was with The Beatles.
