Live Albums By The Beatles
The Beatles changed music history when four young men from Liverpool – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – signed the recording contract.
The Beatles stopped touring at the time when they turned from cut mop-tops to the greatest rock and pop band the world has ever seen with studio albums that changed music forever – Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club, The White Album and Abbey Road.
I like to think that if The Beatles had performed live concerts in 1968 or 1969 and they’d been recorded, we could have a contender for the greatest live album ever but unfortunately we don’t have an undisputed classic Beatles live album.

What If You Could Make a Beatles Live Album?
Paul McCartney wrote many of the best loved Beatles songs like Hey Jude, Let It Be, Yesterday and Eleanor Rigby and he’s carried on recording and releasing live albums. At first he was reluctant to trade on his glorious past but The Beatles songs started to dominate his live albums.
You can take these live recordings and create a great impression of The Beatles live.

The Beatles Live At The BBC is a double CD compilation of live in the studio songs performed by The Beatles for the BBC between 1962 and 1965.
Sadly The Beatles stopped touring in 1965 because otherwise, I think they’d have had a chance of recording the best live album by anyone at any time.
Provided of course that the screaming audience could be toned down a bit or that The Beatles would have loaded themselves up with enough Marshall amplifiers to provide a better balance.
We don’t have that so the challenge instead is to find the best live album recorded by The Beatles as a group or as solo artists since John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr have all released solo live albums.

Live At The Star-Club is an early recording of The Beatles performing live in December 1962.
The recording quality is poor but this is a fascinating piece of pop and rock music history.
Tripping The Live Fantastic Highlights is a live album by Paul McCartney recorded at concerts in 1989 and 1990.
It has simultaneously released in two forms – Tripping The Live Fantastic and the Highlights album.
Having owned them both, I think it’s worth reviewing them separately. As far as I’m concerned, if you Love The Beatles, then this is a must have album.
This is Paul McCartney’s first live album since Wings Over America.

We’ve only got one album of The Beatles live and that’s Live At the Hollywood Bowl from 1964 and 65 when the crowd screaming almost drowned out the band.
No Rubber Soul songs live.
No Revolver songs live
No Sergeant Pepper songs live.
No White Album songs live.
No Abbey Road songs live
No Let It Be songs live.
Not by The Beatles anyway.
We do have the next best thing and we should celebrate.
We have Paul McCartney playing many of the classic later songs by The Beatles on his live albums.
So that got me thinking.
We can put a compilation album together – Paul McCartney Plays The Beatles Live.
The most notable thing about The Beatles Live At Hollywood Bowl can be summed up in three words:
Aaaaargh
Aaaaaaaaaaargh
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
Whatever the Fab Four play, it’s hard to look past the hysterical screaming of the frenzied fans.
