Live Albums By The Doors
The Doors formed in 1965 in Los Angeles with four members – vocalist Jim Morrison, guitar player Robby Krieger, keyboard player Ray Manzarek and drummer John Densmore. They are seen as one of the leading bands of psychedelic rock with a blues base.
Morrison died on 3 July 1971 and while the remaining three tried to carry on, they never captured the previous magic.

Light My Fire was their only top 10 hit in the UK.
Given its classic status now, it seems strange that Riders On The Storm didn’t have more success.

Live At The Aragon Ballroom Chicago 1972 is a live album by The Doors after Jim Morrison died.
It was recorded at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on July 21st 1972. Following Jim Morrison s death in July 1971 the band carried on performing with Manzarek handling the vocals.

The Doors developed as part of the psychedelic/San Francisco scene in the mid to late 1960s. They achieved a lot in their time together before lead singer, Jim Morrison died on July 3, 1971.
Both their debut studio album, simply called The Doors and their last studio album LA Woman are often cited as classics and gave us their signature tunes Light My Fire and Riders On The Storm.
But have they recorded a classic live album?
Absolutely Live is a possible contender but it has since been absorbed into American Nights In Concert together with Alive She Cried. But is more actually less?
Sadly the band didn’t tour to promote the LA Woman album released in April 1971 so we don’t have any live recordings of Riders On The Storm to savour. Instead we have seen plenty of earlier archive recordings of the band released.
