I developed my taste for and knowledge of reggae from listening to the late night John Peel radio show when I was a teenager.

I’m very much stuck in the 1975 to 1978 phase of reggae which coincides with when Bob Marley cracked the British market.

Taj Mahal Live & Direct 1979

Live & Direct is a live album by Taj Mahal and the International Rhythm Band.

It was recorded in 1979 and his experimenting found him playing reggae instead of his more normal blues based music. He’s always been adventurous and keen to incorporate new sounds and unusual instruments into his music but, is a reggae album a touch too far?
