Members of Styx were:

  • Dennis DeYoung – vocals, keyboards,
  • Tommy Shaw – guitars, vocals
  • James Young – guitars, synthesizer, vocals
  • Chuck Panozzo – bass, vocals
  • John Panozzo – drums, percussion, vocals

I’ve found Styx a bit wimpy on the studio tracks that I’ve heard but this is much better than I was expecting. I’m not familiar with the songs and I don’t have any emotional connection with the band but, I suspect, if I were to hear it enough, I’d really enjoy it. Singing, playing and the compositions all come over well.

I’m not at all surprised that it’s doing well in my poll to find the best AOR live albums (see below).

I haven’t seen this album included in any best live albums lists. AOR is often a bit of a hidden vice.
