Asia are a supergroup of well known progressive rock musicians who play a light prog / AOR style of music. They were formed by Steve Howe (guitarist from Yes), John Wetton (bassist and sometimes vocalist from many groups including Roxy Music and Uriah Heep), Geoff Downes (keyboard player for Yes and the Buggles) and Carl Palmer (drummer from ELP).
Since then various members have joined and left in what has become a fluid group.
Before looking at their live albums in detail, it is worth knowing the timing of their studio albums.

Their biggest commercial success came from their first album in 1982 which was a #1 in the US and 4 times platinum record.
The follow-up Alpha also made the top 10 in the States and had more success in other countries. After that chart appearances were patchy at best.
Their big hit songs are “Heat of the Moment” (1982), “Only Time Will Tell” (1982) and “Don’t Cry” (1983) which were all top 20 hits in the USA.

Live In Bufallo is an archive released live album by Asia.
It was recorded in Buffalo, New York on May 3, 1982 by the original members of the group whilst they were promoting their first studio album.
This is one of the few live albums that catches the band in their commercial prime in the early 1980s and whilst recording technology was more primitive, this is an important release if you’re a fan of the band.
Resonance: Live In Basel – Switzerland is a live album and DVD by Asia.
It was recorded on the 2010 tour while the band promoted the Omega studio album.
This album has all four original members of Asia playing on it.

Spirit Of The Night: The Phoenix Tour Live In Cambridge 2009 is a live album and DVD by AOR band Asia.
It was recorded while the band were performing at the Cambridge Rock Festival in August 2009.
Live in Moscow is a live album and DVD by Asia.
It was recorded at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow in November 1990.
On this album, Pat Thrall has replaced Steve Howe on guitar.

It was recorded in Japan on March 8, 2007 and was released in June 2007.
