AOR or Adult Oriented Rock developed in the 1970s as a way to commercialise progressive rock and hard rock to get played on radio and to achieve financial success.
It’s catchy, melodic and often with vocal harmonies but it is also formulaic and can often be soulless. Bands like Boston, Foreigner, Toto have been very popular.
In the UK, the publishers of the Classic Rock magazine have developed two spin-off magazines, one for prog and the other for AOR.

Denver 1979 is a live album by Rainbow. It has been released on vinyl and as an mp3 download by Cleopatra Records (UK) and Purple Pyramid Records (USA).
It was recorded on the Down To Earth tour and catches Rainbow in the transition phase between the hard rock band they were with Ronnie James Dio and the AOR band they became.

It is a radio broadcast of a live concert which was recorded at Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio in 1976. It’s also been released as Live At The Agora.
Two For The Show is a live album by American progressive rock / AOR group Kansas which was recorded in 1977 and 1978.
It has been released as an extended version to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album.
Live: You Get What You Play For is a live album by REO Speedwagon and was recorded on their American tour in 1976.
