This is quite a hard category to define neatly but it refers to good time, high tempo music that was around in the 1950s and 1960s. Some acts endured from the 1970s to the present day.

This is a very interesting album which was recorded as part of the celebrations for the anniversary of Sergeant Pepper. It was recorded at La Villette on June 20, 1987.

It was recorded at the Summit Club in Los Angeles in 1972.
Little Milton is one of those artists that is quite hard to classify. Is it blues or soul or R&B or all three?

It was recorded at Markthalle in Hamburg, Germany on 12th January 1980.

This was originally a bootleg recording of a 1985 concert but the band made it legitimate when they released it on their own Courageous Chicken Records label in 2001.

Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings Live is a live album by the Bill Wyman after he left The Rolling Stones to return to a more rock & roll version of R&B and blues rock.
It was recorded in Berlin on June 15, 2004.
Bill Wyman left The Rolling Stones in 1993 and he formed a band called Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings in 1997. This is good time music and it delivers in full.

Rockin’ The Garage is a live album by The Pretty Things & Friends.
In December 1992, Phil May and Dick Taylor of The Pretty Things joined together with members of the Inmates and Matthew Fisher, who used to play with Procol Harum to pay tribute to 1960’s garage rock.
Live at Rockpalast is a live album and DVD by the Tyla Gang.
It was recorded in 1978 but was only released in 2014 before the reformed Tyla Gang toured Europe in October and November 2014.
Band leader Sean Tyla used to be a member of Ducks Deluxe and therefore I have to admit a bias in favour of the band.
Showtime is the third live album to be released by the J Geils Band.
It was recorded at The Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan in September 1982 and quickly released in November 1982.
By this stage, the band were moving away from their home base of blues and R&B to incorporate a classic rock feel to the material. The single Centrefold was a #1 in the USA and a #3 in the UK.
That’s The Way It Is is a combination of live and studio tracks by Elvis Presley for the documentary That’s The Way It Is.
