Live Albums BY Elvis Costello
Elvis Costello emerged from the join between pub rock and new wave and punk rock to be the angry young man in Britain in the late 1970s.
He sounded like Graham Parker but Parker will always be thought of as R&B based pub rock, Elvis Costello was a leading new wave artist.
All three of his studio albums released in the 1970s are important:
My Aim Is True
This Year’s Model
Armed Forces
but his albums throughout the 1980s continued to be critically acclaimed, especially Imperial Bedroom.
The Elvis Costello live albums are:
Live at the El Mocambo (recorded 1978)
Deep Dead Blue (recorded 1995)
Costello & Nieve (recorded 1996)
My Flame Burns Blue (recorded 2004)
Live at Hollywood High (recorded 1978)
Plus other live concert recordings have been included as bonus issues
My Aim Is True Deluxe Edition – Live at The Nashville Rooms August 7, 1977
This Year’s Model Deluxe Edition – Live at the Warner Theatre, Washington DC 28 February 1978

Elvis Costello was one of the artists who turned pub rock into new wave & punk rock.
Similar in many ways to Graham Parker as an angry young man, he has been linked to punk in a way that Parker never was.
He created three excellent studio albums in My Aim Is True, This Year’s Model and Armed Forces and afterwards consistently innovated but has he released a classic live album?
To help find out, I have started a readers poll:
