Nirvana were an American alternative rock band that led the grunge genre with Pearl Jam.

The three main members of Nirvana were:

Kurt Cobain – lead vocals, guitar (1987–1994)
Krist Novoselic – bass guitar (1987–1994)
Dave Grohl – drums, backing vocals (1990–1994)

Before Dave Grohl joined, the band went through a succession of drummers.
On April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain was found dead of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

Nevermind is regarded as one of the best studio albums ever recorded but did Nirvana make the same splash with their live albums?

Yes. Their MTV Unplugged In New York is often included high up in the lists of the best live albums ever, even though the sound wasn’t the typical Nirvana noise.

More concert recordings have received authorised released through special anniversary editions of the studio albums.
