I’ve decided to group indie rock and alternative rock live albums together to reduce the problems distinguishing between the two related categories.
Wikipedia defines Indie Rock as
“Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom in the 1980s. Indie rock was extremely diverse, with sub-genres that include indie pop, jangle pop, C86, and lo-fi, among others. Originally used to describe record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock. As grunge and punk revival bands in the US, and then Britpop bands in the UK, broke into the mainstream in the 1990s, it came to be used to identify those acts that retained an outsider and underground perspective.”

The “alternative” definition refers to the genre’s distinction from mainstream rock music, expressed primarily in a distorted guitar sound, subversive and/or transgressive lyrics and generally a nonchalant, defiant attitude. The term’s original meaning was broader, referring to a generation of musicians unified by their collective debt to either the musical style, or simply the independent, D.I.Y. ethos of punk rock, which in the late 1970s laid the groundwork for alternative music.[4] At times, “alternative” has been used as a catch-all description for music from underground rock artists that receives mainstream recognition, or for any music, whether rock or not, that is seen to be descended from punk rock (including some examples of punk itself, as well as new wave, and post-punk).”

The Live Record: Witless Banter and 25 Mildly Antagonistic Songs About Love is by the Dance Hall Crashers.
It was recorded over two nights at The Troubadour in Hollywood, California and was released in June 2000. By this stage, little was left of their ska-punk origins as the horns had gone. It’s now in upbeat indie /alternative rock territory.

Skin And Bones is a live album and DVD by Foo Fighters.
This was recorded at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles on August 29, 30 and 31, 2006 and captures the Foo Fighters in an acoustic mood.
The band are joined by guest players Petra Haden (violin), Rami Jaffee (keyboards), Drew Hester (percussion) and former Foo Fighter Pat Smear (guitar).

It was recorded at concerts in Berlin, Dublin and Glasgow during their 2007 tour promoting the Baby 81 studio album.

The Alarm Greatest Hits Live is a live album by The Alarm with an ironic title.
Beyond the song Sixty Eight Guns which reached #17 in the UK singles chart, the band didn’t have a string of big hits.
It was recorded at the Shepherds Bush Empir in, London on 15th December 2000 with the exception of five tracks (2,5,7,8,13) which were recorded at The Gathering in 2001

The John Peel Sessions is a collection of live recordings of Pulp made by the BBC for the John Peel Show on Radio 1.
The first disc has the live in the studio sessions between 1981 and 2001 while the second disk has live in concert recordings.
Pulp found success in the mid 1990s with their studio albums His ‘n’ Hers and Different Class with it’s big hit singles Common People, Sorted For E’s & Wizz and Disco 2000.
This album focuses less on that period and more on what came before and after.
