Emerson Lake & Palmer A Time And A Place 1970 to 1998

A Time And A Place is a four CD compilation archive release of live recordings of Emerson Lake & Palmer.

The first three CDs are from soundboard recordings whilst the fourth CD selects the best sounding tape recording by the audience.

This brings together the classic ELP songs together with rarely performed, less well known songs.

As often is the case, the sound quality on these recordings has received some criticism and the fourth CD is weak. I recommend that you listen to the mp3 samples at Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk before you decide to buy.

I realise that for many people, the Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends live album is more than enough ELP live in concert. However I commend ELP for what they’ve done here and I’d like other artists to put a similar live compilation together. Tom Petty did a similar thing with Live Anthology.

It loses on the authenticity of hearing a single recorded concert but the scope of the album is tremendous. I recommend getting Welcome Back first but if you want to explore deeper into ELP’s history then this makes a very interesting album.
