I treat BJH as a prog rock/art rock crossover band but this leans towards prog. If you love to hear a balance of mellotron and lead guitar, then this album is a must-have.
It very nicely summarises their first four studio albums. Mockingbird is the best known song but the others deserve more attention from symphonic prog fans.
The original version (which I have) didn’t have the best sound because it was a bit muddy but the album was remastered in 2005.
The band have never really been accepted by the prog rockers but this album proves that they are wrong.
It has an extremely high rating of 4.38 at progarchives.com from 82 ratings with 52% rating it as essential, a prog masterpiece. To put that into perspective, it is the highest ranked of the BJH albums and Seconds Out by Genesis has a rating of 4.28 and Yessongs 4.29 (at the time of writing).
