Unlike the early progressive rock bands who became redundant in the punk and new wave “revolution”, Marillion were one of the bands that help prog rock fight back by forming in 1979.
They’ve had plenty of changes in the band but, perhaps the most significant was when lead singer Fish left the group in 1988. Guitarist Steve Rothery is the only member who has been with the band from the start.

Live from Loreley is a live album and DVD by Marillion.
It was recorded at St. Goarshausen Freilichtbuhne in Loreley, Germany on 18th July 1997.
At this stage the band were promoting the Clutching at Straws studio album and this was to be the last tour with original vocalist Fish.

Anorak In The UK Live is a live album by Marillion.
It was recorded at concerts on their tour to promote their studio album Anoraknophobia. In particular songs came from the concerts at the Manchester Academy and London Forum in May 2001.

The Thieving Magpie (La Gazza Ladra) is a live album compilation by prog rock group Marillion.
It pulls together recordings from 1984 to 1987 and the two CD version includes a live performance of Misplaced Childhood from the Hammersmith Odeon in London on the 9th and 10th January 1986.

Recital of the Script is an archive released live album by Marillion.
It was recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on April 18th 1983 on the final night of the tour promoting their debut album, Script for a Jester’s Tear. The album was finally released in 2009.
Real To Reel is a live album by prog rock group Marillion.
An extra song, Emerald Lies was added to the CD release. It is often sold with the Brief Encounters part-live EP added to it as a bonus.
Songs 1 to 4 were recorded on 19 & 20 June 1984 at the Montreal Spectrum in Canada while songs 5 to 7 were recorded on 5 March 1984, Leicester De Montfort Hall in England.
There is some confusion as to the source of the three live tracks on the Brief Encounters EP. It says that it was recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon on January 9&10, 1986 but Fish can be heard to say “Leicester Goodnight” at the end of Fugazi. According to Wikipedia, both Fugazi and Script For a Jester’s Tear are likely to come from the same
Leicester concert in 1984 that features on the Real To Reel live album.
