1975 was the year when two of the most successful, career changing live albums were recorded – Frampton Comes Alive and Kiss Alive – although they were not released on the unsuspecting public until 1976. The history of rock music was changed and the live album floodgates opened even more.
It also includes two live albums that I highly recommend, Bruce Springsteen at Hammersmith Odeon and the J Geils Band who wanted to Blow Your Face Out.

A Live Record is the first live album released by progressive rock group Camel. It is a compilation of recordings from concerts in 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977.
It includes a complete performance of the band’s breakthrough album, The Snow Goose performed with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1975.

This is the unfortunate problem with live compilations since the change in members tends to alter their sound.
Seguendo Le Tracce is a live album recorded by Italian prog rock giants Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso in Salerno, Italy in April 1975.
About ten years ago I went through a phase where my interest in progressive rock went sky high. Powered by the new information that was available to me from the Internet, i discovered great Italian prog rock bands like Banco Del Mutuo Soccorco.
They recorded three of the very best prog rock albums, right of up there with Close To The Edge (Yes) and Foxtrot (Genesis) – Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Darwin! and Io Sono Nato Libero.
Because the lyrics are in Italian, I don’t have a clue what they are singing about but it’s never really concerned me as I’m swept along by the music.
You can find out more about Banco at ProgArchives, a very specialist prog rock website. When I became addicted, the influence of the Italian groups was much higher on this website but I guess more mainstream fans have found it.

That’s The Way Of The World: Alive In ’75 is a live album by funk group Earth Wind & Fire and was recorded from concerts in May 1975.

Stupidity is the first live album by Dr Feelgood. It compiled songs from two concerts – Sheffield in May 1975 and Southend in November 1975.
The album went to #1 in the UK album charts in October 1976 as British rock fans were waking up to a grittier experience.
At this stage, Dr Feelgood had only recorded two studio albums but it was felt that neither captured their true sound. While I’ve classified them as a pub rock group, this is energetic, sweaty R&B.
Beware there is also a Stupidity + with later bonus tracks.
Live At The Main Point, 1975 is a recording of a Bruce Springsteen concert that has been released in the UK and is available for sale on Amazon.co.uk.
This February 1975 recording has been one of the most celebrated Bruce Springsteen bootleg albums for many years as it catches Springsteen previewing Born To Run to his fans at the Bryn Mawr club in Philadelphia. It has a very different sound to Hammersmith Odeon London recorded later in the year.
I understand that different copyright laws mean that these recording can be legally released but I’m not a lawyer so I’m just reporting what I’ve read elsewhere. I think it would be great if Springsteen could officially released it. If he’s not happy about the recording quality and doesn’t want to profit from it, he could donate the royalties to charity.

UK Tour ’75 was recorded on the tour to promote the Fighting studio album. It gives us a chance to listen to the group before their breakthrough into the big time with The Boys Are Back In Town single and the Jailbreak album.
The Official Bootleg Box Set is a compilation of seven UFO concerts from 1975 to 1985. It covers both the Michael Schenker and Paul Chapman years.
If Strangers In the Night isn’t enough live UFO for you, then this is a great place to turn.
Early versions of the box set went from 1975 to 1982 but it has been extended.

Past Lives by Black Sabbath is acompilation of recordings of Black Sabbath live in concert during the early 1970s to make up for no prime time release.
At least this is the original Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler.
The first disc has been previously released as Black Sabbath Live At Last from 1973 concerts.
The second disc is from 1970 and 1975.
If you want the proper Ozzy Osborne Black Sabbath, you may be better turning your attention to Black Sabbath Reunion from 1997.
