Bad Company Live In Concert 1977 & 1979

Live In Concert 1977 & 1979 is a live album by Bad Company.

It captures two concerts, two years apart:

  • CD 1 was recorded at The Summit, Houston, Texas on 23rd May 1977.
  • CD was recorded at The Empire Pool, Wembley, London – 9th March 1979.
  • one song, Hey Joe, comes from the show in Washington, DC.on June 26, 1979.

For some strange reason, it has taken nearly 40 years for Bad Company to release an official live album from their 1970s prime time. Mick Ralphs released Live In Albuquerque which captured a 1976 concert but other members of the band complained and it was immediately withdrawn.

Sadly I’d argue that the band was by this time in decline, peaking with their first  two studio albums.

Thin Lizzy Still Dangerous 1977

Still Dangerous is a live album was recorded in Philadelphia in October 1977 while Thin Lizzy were promoting the Bad Reputation studio album.

This is a similar time to the more famous Live & Dangerous album but there have been doubts about the extent that album was retouched in the studio after the concerts.

This on the other hand is Thin Lizzy raw and unpolished and shows what Live & Dangerous could have sounded like.

Slade Alive Volume 2 1976 & 1977

Slade Alive Volume 2 is the second live album by British hard glam rock group Slade.

It was recorded in the USA in the Autumn of 1976 and in the UK in the Spring of 1977.

The first live album by Slade, Slade Alive! had been a big success in a similar way to Kiss Alive. In the 1970s, Slade sold more singles than any other group in the UK. Six #1, three #2 and two stopped at #3.

However from 1974/5 onwards their career went into decline. Slade Alive 2 revives their glory days with the emphasis on their hits. Unfortunately it flopped but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth hearing.

Slade Alive volume 2 has been compiled with Slade Alive and other Slade live recordings to form Slade Alive The Live Anthology.
