Live Albums By The Allman Brothers Band
The Allman Brothers Band were formed in 1969 by Duane Allman (lead and slide guitars), his brother Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar and vocals), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jaimoe Johanson (drums).
Their early history was marked by great success and tragedy.
On October 29, 1971, Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident in Macon, Georgia. On November 11, 1972 Berry Oakley was killed in another motorcycle accident, just three blocks away from where Duane Allman had died.
Inevitably, the Allman Brothers Band recordings tend to be thought of as before or after these deaths. There greatest commercial successes came in 1972 and 1973 but success weighed heavily on them and the band started to fragment before the first of several reunions.
In later years, the successful shows by the Allman Brothers band helped to launch the career of guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody as Gov’t Mule and then, when Dickey Betts decided to leave, Derek Trucks came in.

It was recorded at the State University of New York on September 19, 1971, just six weeks before Duane Allman died.

Boston Common 8/17/71 is a live album by The Allman Brothers Band.
It was recorded in Boston, Massachusetts on August 17, 1971. This was six weeks after the release of their breakthrough album, At Fillmore East, and ten weeks before Duane Allman’s death.

Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas is a live compilation album by The Allman Brothers Band after the deaths of band leader Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley.
If you want guitar drenched southern blues rock, then you need to focus on the albums recorded in 1971 and before like the widely recognised classic At Fillmore East that challenges in many people’s opinion for the title of the “greatest live album ever”. Then check out the later albums with Warren Haynes.
This band is different, more jazzy and soulful as the band only featured Dickie Betts on guitar and instead of a second guitarist, they recruited keyboardist/pianist player Chuck Leavell.
