Live Blues Rock Albums

Blues rock is influenced by the blues but there is less emphasis on the emotions within the song and more on emphasis on rocking out and showing off instrumental prowess.

Blues rock sits in between the blues and hard rock and heavy metal.

It’s origins lie with bands like The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds who turned to American black music for their inspiration and developed in the sixties with bands like Cream and then Led Zeppelin.

Blues rock also developed in America although its influence also spread into Psychedelic Rock of the San Francisco groups and Southern Rock.

Big Brother and the Holding Company Cheap Thrills 1968

Cheap Thrills is an album by Big Brother and the Holding Company.

This is a controversial album since much of it was recorded in the studio with crowd noise mixed in to give the impression that it’s a live album. The only completely live in concert recording is that of Ball & Chain. The expended version available on CD has two more live songs, Catch Me Daddy and Magic of Love.

It is, however, a convincing impression since it captures a raw, live-in-concert style energy.
