Frank Zappa You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Vol 3 1971 to 1984

You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Vol 3 is a collection of live recordings by Frank Zappa.

Unlike vol2 which was based on gigs at a single venue (Helsinki in 1974), this goes back to the format of vol 1 and collects together tracks from 1971 through to 1984.

While this loses the feel of one concert and opens up the issue of different members in the supporting band, it means that you get some of Zappa’s favourite versions of the songs. Of course, some fans disagree as the early 1980s weren’t his strongest period.

Frank Zappa Make A Jazz Noise Here 1988

Make A Jazz Noise Here is a live album by Frank Zappa.

It was recorded on his February to June 1988 world tour and released in 1991. Two other live albums also came from this tour where they covered a vast range of different songs – Broadway the Hard Way with new songs and The Best Band You’ve Never Heard which focused on oldies and covers.

This album, in contrast, concentrates on the more instrumental songs that Zappa has performed. It will therefore appeal to fans of jazz and prog rock who appreciate expert musicianship.

Frank Zappa You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Vol 2 – The Helsinki Concert 1974

You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Vol 2: The Helsinki Concert is a live album by Frank Zappa.

Although the title suggests that this was one individual performance, it was actually compiled from the concerts at two concerts at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki, Finland on September 22 and 23, 1974.

This makes it very different from other albums in the You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore which are compilations from many different concert recordings.

That indicates that Frank Zappa was very impressed with these Helsinki gigs and this album needs to be considered carefully by anyone who wants some live Zappa in their lives.

What Are The Best Live Albums By Frank Zappa with or without The Mothers Of Invention?

Frank Zappa recorded most of his live performances as he strived to produce the perfect music and experience for his fans.

This has led to a large number of albums being released during his lifetime and also many more being released after his death in December 1993.

Like the Grateful Dead, this large number of albums means that it’s confusing for both eager fans and people who are coming new to his recordings, to find the best.

That’s why I have set up a readers poll.

Frank Zappa The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life 1988

The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life is a live album by Frank Zappa.

It is one of three live albums recorded during the February to June 1988 world tour. The others are Broadway the Hard Way and Make a Jazz Noise Here.

While this may normally seem excessive, the band are said to have played close to 200 different songs on the tour.

Make A Jazz Noise is mainly focused on past instrumentals and Broadway The Hard Way introduces new songs. The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life pays tribute to his past and especially songs from the 1970s together with various intriguing covers.

This is Zappa at his most accessible.
