Bring It Back Alive is the first live album by Southern rock group the Outlaws which was recorded in 1977. It’s most famous for the 20 minute guitar-fest on Green Grass and High Tides.

Live Albums Recorded In 1977
I will always think of 1977 as the year of punk rock. The first singles and albums by the Sex Pistols, The Clash and the The Damned were released and from the USA, Talking Heads and Television appeared to help turn punk into new wave.
Live albums were still thriving thanks to the amazing popularity of Frampton Comes Alive which was the big hit released (not recorded) in the year.
Classic live albums are led by Live & Dangerous by Thin Lizzy and there are plenty of much less well known albums to enjoy.
Live albums recorded in 1977 include:

Yes Yesshows 1976-78
Yesshows is the second live album from Yes and captures the group live between 1976 and 1978. This is when Yes and the other dinosaur bands were being challenged by punk.
During the period Yes changed keyboard players with Patrick Moraz leaving and Rick Wakeman returning. Moraz plays on the two very long tracks, The Gates of Delirium and Ritual – Nous Sommes du Soleil with Wakeman on the others.

Alice Cooper The Alice Cooper Show 1977
The Alice Cooper Show is a live album by Alice Cooper recorded at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas in August 1977.
This is quite late in his career for his first live album and much of his success was in the early seventies.
Alice Cooper is a showman and any live album is going to fail to capture the full experience of his live shows because the “shock-rock” visual antics were such an important part of the entertainment.
The emphasis on death and dying is not to my tastes but he does have some great tunes.

Kiss Alive 2 1977
Kiss Alive 2 is the second live album by Kiss, recorded in 1977 with songs from Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over and Love Gun.
The performances came from The Forum, Los Angeles, Capital Theatre, Passaic, New Jersey and Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan.
I remember reading the reviews in the Sounds music paper by Geoff Barton where he raved about it and said that it was even better than Kiss Alive! and he loved that first album.

Talking Heads The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads 1977 to 1981
The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads is a live compilation album from Talking Heads spanning the years from 1977 to 1981.
This represents the time when Talking Heads were at their most innovative, coming out of the punk movement at the CBGBs club but sounding nothing like punk. In my classification system I’m treating talking Heads as both a new wave band and an art rock band.
This album represents Talking Heads at their brilliant, quirky best and in my opinion is even more exciting than Stop Making Sense.
If you’re wondering about the title, the group were often incorrectly called The Talking Heads. David Byrne would often introduce songs with the phrase “The name of this song …”
The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads
My Rating – 29 out of 30 – an outstanding live album

Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo 1976 & 1977
Double Live Gonzo is the first live album by Ted Nugent recorded in 1976 and 1977 and released in 1978.
Ted Nugent had been lead guitarist for the The Amboy Dukes before becoming the star attraction in that group and then going solo.
His first studio albums – Ted Nugent, Free For All and Cat Scratch Fever – were popular with heavy metal fans.
