Nils Lofgren could have been a contender but for some reason, success and fame eluded him.
He played with Neil Young on the legendary album After The Goldrush.
Nils Lofgren then formed his own band Grin and recorded some excellent songs. The group split up and in the mid seventies it looked as if he could make it big with studio albums like Nils Lofgren and Cry Tough.
But his career faded until he joined Bruce Springsteen in the E Street band for many years.

His time with Grin and his first two solo albums received plenty of praise from the music critics so many may feel that this is his prime period.

Nils Lofgren was an excellent live performer, even playing guitar solos as he was hoisted into the air or bouncing on a trampoline.
He’s also recorded plenty of live albums that allow him to pick the best of the many songs he’s written.

Loading ...As for music genres, in electric mode I think Lofgren is more of a classic rock artist, although without the normal commercial success but acoustically he shows his singer songwriter talents.

Back It Up Live ’85 is a recording of a live radio broadcast by Nils Lofgren in concert.
It was recorded at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey on 1 November 1985 during the tour to promote the Flip studio album and is released on the Echoes label. It is not to be confused with the similarly titled Back It Up Official Bootleg from 1975.
