Acoustic Live is an interesting and charming album from Nils Lofgren in 1997 as he follow on in the Unplugged tradition that became popular in the 1990s.
It was actually recorded at The Barns Of Wolftrap, Vienna in Virginia on January 18th, 1997.

When you look through the set lists for the Nils Lofgren live albums, you’ll notice how much variety there is on them. While he’s happy to reference his most successful (and best) period in the 70s as a solo artist and before that with Grin, he also promotes his more recent albums.
I think this reflects the fact that Nils has written so many good songs… and perhaps that there aren’t many must-hear crowd-pleasers that his audience will expect. There isn’t the equivalent of Born To Run (Bruce Springsteen) or Like A Hurricane (Neil Young).
One of the things that will have attracted many Nils Lofgren fans is his prowess as a lead guitar player and that comes shining through on live albums like Back It Up and Night After Night.
This album puts the focus back onto the songs – the melodies and lyrics – and they stand up very well to create a charming album that rewards being heard many times.
