Arguably The Jam were the post successful of the British punk/new wave bands although, in many ways, they didn’t fit into that category and were more of a power pop band. Paul Weller then formed The Style Council to continue the drift towards soul and R&B and since that band split, he has received success as a solo artist and has been a major influence on the development of Brit-Pop.
